HABITAT LOSS

I long for that white box.
A succession of wide interconnected rooms,
with pristine white walls and good diffuse lighting.
With objects hanging or scattered on the floor.
That was our natural environment.

But that place is in danger.
A great majority doesn't even consider it.
Some come and go when necessary, nothing more.
Even when stepping out of the frame, one encounters a wall.
Its past glory will hardly return.

I sigh for the black picture.
The medium now is the infinite void of virtual space.
The screen, turned off, reflective like a dark mirror,
hides everything imaginable until it lights up.
It resembles a tomb, vast and deep.
I will dive headfirst as soon as it appears.

Some tips: Follow your own light, illuminate your path. Stairs and elevators will allow you to add levels. When you reach the rooftop, be careful, don't trip.

MakingOf

Divide the base of a cube with a 10 x 10 grid and its height into 20 planes.
Erect walls leaving openings of different sizes and proportions, in a linear gradation and radial symmetry.
Insert floors and connect them with stairs and elevators, situated along diagonals between the vertices of the cube.
Hollow out a central atrium of 2 x 2 segments and add a cube at mid-height, open at the top and connected to the terrace by a narrow conduit.
Number each floor in front of all elevators and also around the center.
Ready.
